    Head Transplants

    I was reading some articles about the possibility of head transplants. Well, not just the possibility, but the actuality of it and the guy that plans to do it. Sergio Canavero is the Russian doctor planning the first human head transplant. The most difficut part of the transplant is the fusion of the spinal chords. Or well, ONE of the most difficult parts. Waking up in another persons body certainly seems difficult, if not necessitating a psychotic episode. But also, isn't it more of a body transplant than a head transplant? Your switching bodies, not heads.

    The Long Now

    I recently listened to an episode of the Stuff You Should Know podcast about a project going on with the goal of building a 10,000 year clock. The foundation building the clock is called The Long Now. The clock itself is designed to tick for 10,000 years. It will be built in such a way that it will only require Bronze Age technology to power it. That is, there will be no electric power to it other than a human operated crank, a weighted system, and a pendulum.
